An organisation providing assistance to travellers at Southern Cross and Flinders Street Stations requires customer service volunteers. At Flinders Street Station volunteers are rostered to assist the permanent staff at the station with customer service enquiries and to help with the companion service as necessary. This requires a weekly commitment for 4-5 hours. Volunteers may also volunteer for the Companion Service as well as Flinders Street Station. At Southern Cross Station volunteers assist the permanent staff at the station. The role has a broader range than at Flinders Street Station as it encompasses driving the buggy on the busy platforms, providing information and assisting the travelling public. The position can be challenging as the station is the regional station. Additional training programs are provided for the volunteer at the location to comply with regulations. Volunteers at this location must have a current Victorian Drivers Licence and undergo a medical check. This opportunity is offered to a volunteer who can commit to a regular weekly roster as there is a substantial cost in providing training for the volunteer in this role.
