Banksia Services provides practical support and respite care to enhance the quality of life of older people with Dementia and who are isolated in the community.

The activities at Banksia have a social focus and include art and music therapy, active mind games, gardening and outdoor pursuits.

We currently require volunteer drivers to assist with picking up clients in the morning and taking them home again in the afternoon.

Drivers are welcome to stay for the day and be part of our day program if they wish. Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

Duties include:

• Follow the Banksia Transport Procedure at all times
• Fill bus with petrol if petrol tank is ¼ empty and/or on each Tuesday
• Assist the jockey to load walkers and wheelchairs into the bus
• Ensure that all walkers and wheelchairs are securely fastened
• Assist passengers in and out of the bus as required.

Requirements:

• A genuine commitment and interest in working with the elderly.
• Ability to pass the Driver’s Assessment Test
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work well with others and take instruction
• Willingness to undergo and obtain a satisfactory police check
• Understanding of and commitment to the values and ideals of the Brotherhood.
