Were you inspired by the Dreamhouse? (Central suburbs)

Citizen Advocacy
Logo for Citizen Advocacy

The Dreamhouse, screened on ABC TV last year, featured three young adults with intellectual disabilities in the process of flying the nest, sharing a house in Subiaco. They were supported to achieve their dream by some volunteer house-mates.

The Dreamhouse provided a very interesting insight into the joys and challenges experienced by our fellow community members with disability.

At Citizen Advocacy Perth West we also assist people with intellectual disability but, unlike Kirk, Sarah and Justin, the individuals we assist usually don't have the involvement of a supportive family, so are even more vulnerable and socially isolated.

We help by introducing them to a volunteer citizen advocate who acts as mentor, friend or spokesperson (not house-mate!) Many of our citizen advocates work full-time but enjoy weaving this flexible, voluntary role into their lives.

If you’re interested in changing the world.... for one person, we look forward to hearing from you!!!

Due to the intended long term nature of our positions, we are unable to recruit to provide for course credits or Centrelink requirements.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
