We are seeking volunteers to provide support to clients in our community-based hospice service. This role requires volunteers to work independently but as part of a team of nurses, allied health professionals and other volunteers providing a complete service to a client living in the community. Tasks may vary depending on clients needs. Common tasks would be a respite sit while the primary carer takes a break or goes out. It may be providing local transport to take client to doctor’s appointments or pick up medication. It could also be providing social support to the client in the way of taking them for a coffee at the local café etc or assist them with doing some light shopping. We have a team of very experienced volunteers who will provide excellent mentorship and support within this role. This role can be emotional and it is not always easy. Some clients are only with you for a very short time due to their deteriorating health conditions. If you have experience in palliative care or a passion to help others we would love to hear from you.

You will need to have a spare 4 hours approx. each week and some roles may require a driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle.

Our volunteers are vital members of our Palliative Care team and so this opportunity is not suited to those seeking a short term commitment. Due to the nature of the care we are providing, this position is open to those over the age of 25.

    * May be arranged via the Organisation. Details to be provided on expression of interest.
