Community Visitors are the eyes and the ears of the community and perform an important role of upholding the human rights of people with a cognitive disability and/or mental illness.

Community Visitors monitor and report on the adequacy of services being provided to residents/inpatients.

They talk to residents to identify issues of concern.

Community Visitors write a brief report at the conclusion of the visit.

Community Visitors visit in pairs, and visit facilities within their region. They spend between 8-10 hours per month visiting.

Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills are required.

The ability to contribute to a visit report is also required.

This role is ideally suited to individuals who are able to visit during day-time hours or late afternoons.

Access to your own vehicle is essential.

Training is provided and out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.

This is a challenging and rewarding role which is a formal Victorian Governor-In-Council appointment.
