A citizen advocate has a unique opportunity to change the world... for one person.

A citizen advocate’s role is responsive and varied. Monitoring the well-being and enhancing the life of an individual with intellectual disability without a supportive network of family or friends; they may be vulnerable, isolated, or at risk.

The role may include being a spokesperson, protector, ally, mentor or friend – perhaps enabling the individual with disability to achieve goals they may have, reach their potential, expand their horizons, and have fun!!

The hours are flexible and no specific experience is necessary as Citizen Advocacy coordinators offer orientation and ongoing support.

Care is taken to ensure that the interests, time availability and resources of the potential advocate match the situation of the person with disability.

Due to the intended long term nature of our positions, we are unable to recruit to provide for course credits or Centrelink requirements.
