Lifeline WA - Telephone Crisis Supporter

Lifeline WA is looking for compassionate and dedicated individuals to become Telephone Crisis Supporters and answer calls from Lifeline’s 13 11 14 telephone crisis support line.

Lifeline's 13 11 14 service is a nationally routed crisis support number, available every day of the year, from any location in Australia. It is available to anyone - regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation. Lifeline WA provides all Western Australians experiencing a a personal crisis or thinking about suicide with access to 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. Lifeline’s mission is to prevent suicide, support people in crisis and reduce the stigmas, which can be a barrier to people seeking help.

How to become a Telephone Crisis Supporter:
Step 1 – Complete an application / please contact Lifeline WA for an application

Step 2 – Attend a ZOOM interview

Step 3 – Complete the training via ZOOM.
We are currently offering the two weeks, full-time course option, which will be held on: Monday 21st June 2021 – Friday 2nd July 2021 9.00am – 4.30pm daily

Step 4 – Mentoring Shifts – attend 4 x 4 hour Mentor shifts between: Monday 16th July 2021 – Friday 27th July 2021

Step 5 – Take your first shift and help an Australian in crisis. Lifeline WA has highly dedicated team members who are there to assist you with ongoing support and training.

Closing date for applications for the full-time intake of Telephone Crisis Supporters, starting in June 2021, is Friday 21st May.

Please note, Lifeline WA also offers part-time intakes of volunteers throughout the year.

We warmly welcome applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and those with a lived experience of suicide.
