Currumbin Sanctuary Wildlife Keeper Assistant

    We ask for a registration fee of $60.00 to join the Wildlife Volunteer Program. The benefits include a Volunteer uniform which includes a polo shirt, cap and badge and a full National Trust Membership valued at $65.
    You will need to provide your own work boots with ankle support and khaki shorts or trousers.
    Minimum of 6 months commitment required.

    A group interview will be arranged and 4 trial shifts will be required to be undertaken prior to any placement. Trial Shifts are offered to assess suitability to each role.
    Compulsory to attend the 5 hour Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary WHS Company Induction held on the first Tuesday of each month. Please note the volunteer will also be required to complete 2 online courses prior to the induction.

The Wildlife Keeper Assistant core daily tasks include: preparing food, assisting with feeding, washing up, cleaning, raking, sweeping, hosing, and refurbishing the animal enclosures. This is a physically demanding role with lots of walking and cleaning of enclosures and associated grounds. The volunteer should have a high level of physical fitness in order to be able to undertake this role. The volunteer must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and be on their feet for 8 hours. The rounds that the volunteer can work on include: Mammals, Birds, Reptiles, Lost Valley Precinct, Presentations Department, Wildlife Experiences and Koalas. If you are a good match for the role, arrangements will be made for you to attend four trial shifts with the Wildlife team, so you can find out about the role first hand and also be assessed on your suitability. Placements within any Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary volunteer program are limited and no guarantee of acceptance will be given. Thank you for understanding that in order to protect both our animals and Sanctuary operations, only people who meet the selection criteria and program requirements can be accepted into the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary volunteer programs. (Not available : Volunteer Days available: Monday - Sunday, 7.00am – 4.00pm, with some shorter shifts available.)
