Albany Hospice was opened in November 1989, after a study indicated a need to supplement services already provided in the area. Today's Hospice was opened in 2001 and operates as a private hospice in association with other palliative care providers and public services in the area. A new Hospice is currently being built and will open late in 2015. This new building will double the current Hospice capacity.
