If you live in the Bullsbrook area and you are interested in making a difference to your community then the Bullsbrook Bush Fire Brigade needs you! The Bush Fire Cadet Program is open to young people between the ages of 13 - 15 years inclusive and assists young people to develop practical life skills, leadership, teamwork and initiative skills and fosters qualities of community responsibility and service. Cadets are provided with basic Personal Protective Equipment on a loan basis. As a Bush Fire Cadet you will undertake a variety of interesting and challenging training including: > First aid and emergency care > Radio communication > Fire safety and basic fire fighting > Map reading and navigation > Field craft > Leadership and instructional training The Cadet program has received Curriculum Council endorsement Cadets have the opportunity to gain points towards their WA Certificate of Education by completing the training program modules. In addition, Cadets will have the opportunity to complete the 20 hours of community service requirement of the WACE through different brigade activities such as assisting with parking and in the food tents at the Avon Descent in Walyunga Park. From time to time there are also opportunities to join cadets from other Emergency services in activities such as the Volunteer Games and the Leeuwin Voyage.
