Wildlife foster care is the process of providing aid to injured, orphaned, displaced, or distressed wildlife in such a way that they may survive when released to their native habitat. AWARE Wildlife Rescue does not have an official position description for "Wildlife Foster Carer" as this role is varied; Wildlife foster care does require training after which you’ll then be able to apply for a foster carers permit through DELWP (Dept of Environment, Land, Water and Planning).

We do ask that interested parties go to the AWARE Wildlife Rescue website and do some reading on the wildlife fostering.

We also ask that potential foster carers spend some time working as a shelter helper at our super shelter in Langwarrin to help gain a true grasp on what fostering entails. If,after reading the information on the website, you wish to continue to the next step, please contact the number provided on the website to speak to someone at our super shelter. Thank you for your interest.
