Mission Australia volunteers and staff focus on empowering people and building communities. The Mission Australia Centre in Surry Hills aims to break the cycle of homelessness by empowering individuals, providing varying levels if intervention through flexible, innovating, responsive services and support options. We are looking for volunteers that will help achieve Mission Australia’s vision.

The Catalyst University Program has been running at the Mission Australia Centre for over ten years, providing students with credit points towards University education. The topic for Semester 1, 202 is Introduction to Sociology. The course will start Wednesday February 24th 2021 and run for 12 weeks. The Catalyst University Program also provides students with one-to-one academic support through our Learning Partner tutorial sessions. The students have excellent computer and library resources available to them at the Mission Australia Centre as well as complimentary weekly writing and computer workshops for further assistance if needed.

We are currently seeking Learning Partners to volunteer at the Mission Australia Centre. The role will begin Wednesday the 24th of February and will run for 12 weeks during semester 1 study period times. The Learning Partner sessions run every Wednesday evenings from 5.30pm-7pm for 12 weeks. This may involve a mix on face to face and online platforms.

The ideal candidate for this role is someone with previous experience of undergraduate or postgraduate university study. The candidate must also be willing to attend the Volunteer Training Session (after business hours) – on Wednesday evening from 5:30-8pm.
