The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of Solve Disability Solutions.

Do you have pattern making, sewing or textile skills? and like the challenge of problem solving and thinking 'outside the box'? We need volunteers to join our Occupational Therapist when meeting with a client with a disability, helping to identify a solution to their problem (when they can’t find anything commercially suitable). You will get to design and make a solution, enabling the client to have greater independence. Examples of textiles projects that we have completed in the past are; a sling for an equestrian competitor, support cushion, sensory blanket and velcro straps. Volunteering is ad hoc and you get to do most of the work from home!

Your role: You design, make or modify the article in your own time, using sewing equipment you have access to. During the project you will need to keep a record of all costs (which will be reimbursed to you) and write up a small report describing what you made.

Our Volunteers gain a lot of satisfaction when they complete a project, not only have they had the opportunity to use their skills and knowledge, but also seeing the smile on a client’s face when they can now do something they previously couldn’t is very rewarding.

Requirements: This role is suited to someone retired, semi-retired or working part time who as the skills and enjoys helping others in the community.

Note- Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, if you are interested in this role, you may submit an EOI now and your application will still be processed

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
