Please Note: As each organisation provides different levels/types of insurance, volunteers are reminded to check with the organisation as to the level of coverage for volunteers due to various restrictions to ensure they are covered for the roles they will be undertaking.

All people are different - some people enjoy frozen food, some prefer fresh. We find most prefer fresh food, which is the reason behind the Italian Day Centre’s creation of the Fresh Delivered Meals service. We offer freshly cooked meal deliveries to people who may not be able to make a meal for themselves to maintain their dignity and independence in their own homes. Not surprisingly, this service is growing rapidly, and that’s why we need your help!

We are looking for enthusiastic people to join our Fresh Delivered Meals team. There are many ways in which you can contribute. At present, the most sought after role within our organisation is the Community Driver, which also happens to be our most rewarding position for those who wish to make a difference to someone’s well-being.

Meal deliveries are made Monday through to Friday, and each delivery run takes approximately two to three hours to complete. Upon starting, our team will make sure that you deliver to the same clients every time, in order to maintain relationships with familiar people and to avoid any confusion.

This position would best suit someone who can volunteer a couple of hours a week, but any time that you are able to give is valuable to us – we are happy to work with your availability. Ideally, our Community Drivers use their own insured car to complete meal deliveries, and all fuel and out of pocket expenses are reimbursed. Contrary to our name, the majority of our clients are not Italian, they just happen to enjoy Italian food (and who doesn’t?), so language is no barrier.

If you are looking to give back to the local community, then the Community Driver role is for you! We look forward to hearing from you – please send us an enquiry and our friendly staff will take it from there!
