Are you interested in Jewish history and culture and want to contribute at a community level?

Over 100 volunteers work with the Museum across all departments. In particular a wonderful team of volunteers present programs to over 5000 school children who visit the Museum each year from both Jewish and non-Jewish schools. We are always interested in hearing from people interested in working with our schools team. Many of the students who visit the Museum are experiencing Judaism and meeting Jewish people for the first time. The volunteers find it very rewarding to be able to share their culture and experience (whatever that may be) with students.

Volunteers receive an induction and ongoing support from staff, as well as the opportunity to participate in the Museum's short courses and public programs at reduced prices. Parking permits available for volunteers to park close to the Museum for free during their shifts.

Volunteer positions allow for different levels of commitment depending on the time you are able to give. Some volunteers come in once a month, some come in 2-3 times a week. Volunteers to the Museum with both a Jewish and non-Jewish background are all welcome, whether orthodox or progressive.

A National Police Records Check is required for general volunteer positions with the Museum and a Working With Children Check is required for volunteers working with school groups.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
