Caring volunteers are sought to provide one on one emotional and social support to people living with HIV/AIDS. Volunteers spend time with their client and are also expected to attend a support group for one hour each week to give and receive support to/from fellow volunteers and Social Workers of the project. Minimum of 6 month commitment to the project.
All volunteers receive comprehensive training, after which they will be matched with a client.
A 4-day training session, providing information on HIV/AIDS, communication skills, mental health, and alcohol and other drugs to name just a few.
This role would suit people with a caring disposition, friendly and able to cope emotionally. The volunteer must have excellent English.
