A professional massage therapist is required to provide relaxation for staff, parents and carers. Days and times flexible and volunteers will work in both in hospital setting and home.

Thorough induction programme provided. An innovative Program was set up to provide massage to Palliative Care patients and their carers as a way of providing nurturing with therapeutic massage at a difficult time in their lives, and to staff as a way of supporting them in their work in Palliative Care. This health care organisation are looking for qualified massages who may be interested in joining this program.

Personal Skills: People who volunteer to work in Palliative care, need to reflect on the essential skills listed below: Common sense, good listener, team player, diligent, be emotionally stable, good sense of humour, sensitivity towards others, sense of personal boundaries, ability to say no - able to care for their own needs, be compassionate, have other interests, have a stable support system. The volunteer will need to ability to accept and respect a person religious/cultural beliefs and to accept guidance and direction. A flexible, committed and reliable person would enjoy this role.

Mandatory requirements include:

• Evidence of Training as a Massage Therapist
• Willingness to undertake a Criminal Record check and provide references..

It would be preferable if the volunteer also has membership with ATMS or other recognised body.

If you wish to work as a volunteer in the hospital / community, additional mandatory training will need to be completed.
