Please Note: Despite the situation with COVID-19 in Australia, we are now, more than ever, in need of volunteers to ensure that we can continue to deliver meals to the most vulnerable in our community. We are following advice from the health authorities and all volunteers and staff are following our standard food safety procedures, good hand hygiene and as an extra precaution are using hand sanitising gel between each home they visit. We have also asked our volunteers to practise social distancing recommendations (where possible) when delivering meals. So, if you would like to know more about this opportunity, please continue to read on below and express your interest by hitting the 'Apply' button at the bottom of the page.
Do you enjoy interacting with people? Are you able to work as part of a team? Are you fairly fit and healthy?
This local organisation provides meals, personal contact and security to elderly, housebound, and disabled members of the community and their carers through its Branch Volunteers. Current vacancies for Volunteers within this vital organisation, are for people to assist drivers with the delivery of meals.
Volunteers are crucial to the operation of this community service. This role involves accompanying one of the Volunteer Drivers on their run, from 10.15am until their run is complete, at approximately 12 noon. As this role involves getting in and out of the motor vehicle, volunteers need to be sufficiently fit and mobile.
Volunteers are needed every day of the week, but are more than welcome if availability is just one day a week, fortnight or month.
Although delivery of prepared meals is the basis of the service, it is more than just a meal. It is also about ensuring people who may not be able to get out and about, enjoy regular social interaction and the comfort of knowing someone will drop by regularly to say hello and see how they are going.
If you would like to join this vital community service team of volunteers, we would love to hear from you.
