The MATES program offers flexibility to its participants and volunteers but does require a 12 month minimum commitment.

The program

Providing one on one social support to members of our community who are struggling with their Mental Health. As a volunteer you would meet with your Mate on a weekly or fortnightly basis to spend time on shared activities and interests to create a positive and interactive connected experience for you both.

The opportunity This role suits someone over the age of 18 who is a good listener, has empathy and can commit to one hour a week for participation in local social activities.

Whatever your motivation, be it gaining experience for work, wanting to positively use some spare time, giving back or developing your own social connections, you will be rewarded by volunteering in this wonderful program.

The impact

As a MATES Volunteer, you will be matched with a suitable candidate who is seeking friendship and support to engage in social activities. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
