Volunteer Coordinator

The Volunteer Coordinator will be part of a team to support and scale up the delivery of POA Programs. As the Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll work closely with the Education, Business, Science and Intern Programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for the recruitment, training, support and orientation of volunteers.

RESPONSIBILITIES • Coordinate recruitment, induction and training of volunteers in conjunction with the needs of specific POA Programs. • Develop systems to monitor progress and support, including seeking feedback from volunteers, to ensure POA remains a healthy positive volunteer environment. • Work with Program leaders to ensure that expectations placed on volunteers are realistic and achievable. • Ensure volunteers make a meaningful contribution to POA continuance. • Maintain and develop an organisational culture that mutually values and respects volunteers as well as paid staff and interns.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE We’re looking for someone with: • Experience in a Not for Profit organisation, preferably involving management of volunteers. • Understanding of the issues facing volunteers in a Not for Profit organisation. • Committed to developing a positive workplace culture. • Great communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work autonomously. • Ability to work online and remotely some of the time • Demonstrated ability to use MS Word, Excel and Outlook, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint. • Current (or willing to obtain) National Police Check. • Interested in environmental sustainability and passionate about marine life, human health and waterways

The role is an estimated minimum 0.2 position and is currently offered on a voluntary basis with the possibility of becoming a paid position in the future.
