The UNAA

United Nations Association of Australia (UNAA) is the peak body for promoting the United Nations (UN) in Australia. As a non-government organisation and registered Australian charity, the UNAA works to inform, inspire and engage Australians about the work, goals and values of the United Nations to create a safer, fairer and more sustainable world. We engage the community and support the work of the United Nations through:

• Our local teams and events and programs across Australia on the issues affecting Australians such as climate change, progress toward gender equality, refugees, and issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples;

• Promoting the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals, what they are, why they are important and the work currently underway;

• The UN Alumni Network – a group of Australians who are currently or who have worked in the UN system;

• The UNAA Young Professionals Network – a group of changemakers supporting young professionals toward a career working in social good and to create change;

• The Friends of UN Parliamentary Group of which the UNAA is the Secretariat - Chaired by Sharon Claydon MP and Andrew Lamming MP, with members with an interest in the UN across all sides of politics.

The Role

The UNAA is recruiting a Head of Administration for its National Office. The position requires at least 5 to 10 hours per week, however workflow is flexible. You will lead a team of volunteers and report to National President, though the role and responsibilities may change to suit the skills and experience of the right candidate. It's an unpaid volunteer role with approved expenses reimbursed.

Responsibilities

● Manage the operations and administration of the UNAA National Office

● Manage a team of National Office volunteers and support their portfolios

● Maintain accounts, logins, systems and subscriptions as the central point of contact

● Manage UNAA National email accounts and enquiries, delegating as required

● Prepare and coordinate input for Annual Report and other reporting as required

● Manage admin and coordinate recruitment and induction processes

● Work with the National President to support the National Board

What we are looking for - Selection criteria

  1. Demonstrated experience in administration and office management

  2. Leadership and organisational skills and experience

  3. Understanding of or interest in the goals and values of the United Nations

  4. Experience managing and building relationships working as part of a team and supporting others

  5. Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the value of diversity

  6. Experience in not for profits and volunteer and unpaid roles, with a willingness to contribute the time and skills required
