ABOUT THE GENEROUS AND THE GRATEFUL (GG) The Generous and the Grateful (GG) is an independent charity founded in 2017 by Carmen Platt and joined by Davida Sweeney in 2018 to address gaps in service offerings for people experiencing or at great risk of homelessness.

Our mission is to source, collate and distribute packages of furniture and whitegoods to vulnerable people through their case workers, quickly and cost effectively.

Recipients include homeless, domestic violence survivors, youth at risk and refugees.

Since its inception, GG has supported thousands of individuals, creating 460 home packages in the last year alone. GG partner with 16 casework agencies in which to access beneficiaries, enabling GG to sidestep lengthy assessment delays and act quickly, and free up resources so that these professionals may focus on the complex needs of their clients, typically this includes mental health support, financial independence, employability and education.

The stage GG are at now is to determine more innovative, modern ways to solidify its foundations, improve efficiency so that GG may then scale its impact. The team are learning as they go, but what they are certain about, is that by bringing together a range of great minds, with varied experience, and kind hearts, they have a better chance of shaping a brighter future for many.

GG needs help in securing ongoing partnerships with socially responsible corporations, actively collaborating with other NGOs to share resources and increase impact, and modelling the different options for how to scale  impact. GG currently relies on more than 50 volunteers to run operations and benefits from the support of organisations such as Herbert Smith Freehills, Payce Foundation, Goodman Foundation, Frasers Property, NSW government and the Ryde City Council.
