We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and motivated person to join our team of passionate and dedicated Support Workers at our day centre in Shenton Park bringing joy and meaning to the lives of our clients.

Mary Chester House is our day centre supporting clients in the metro area, our club clients visit the centre one day a week and are involved in a wide range of meaningful activities based on the persons strengths, identity and interests, the centre provides meaningful engagement, stimulation and friendship in specially designed dementia enabling environments.

Our volunteers provide a most valued support to our clients and Support Worker Team and are welcomed as part of the team

We are looking for someone with some experience of woodworking of DIY skills to join our team and help look after our men's shed.

This would be for just one day a week (or more if you would like) for approximately 3-4 hours

As a men's shed volunteer you would:

Support with woodworking activities. Undertake minor repairs and maintenance "around the house" Be part of a team to provide a quality Centre based Respite service for people living with dementia based on person centred practice and ‘Eden’ principles Help create and maintain a supportive and empowering environment where people living with dementia, their families, children, animals, plants and staff thrive and interact in positive ways to meet their well-being needs Develop relationships with centre members that provide companionship and support while maintaining optimum professional boundaries Facilitate activities for centre members promoting individual choice, independence and providing opportunities for maintenance of skills and abilities

As our volunteers become part of our family we always look for people who are willing to dedicate some of their time for a valued amount of time which enables them to build relationships with our clients and our team. We recognise that people may be between jobs or are needing a student placement, however we want to invest in our volunteers by providing relevant training and support, and therefore want our volunteers to stay with us for as long as they possibly can.
