About the Role We are seeking volunteers to provide money mentor services in our Emergency Relief and Financial Health Services teams. There are positions available at our Marion office.

The money mentor program is a mentoring service for community members facing financial hardship. The program has a strengths focus and identifies client need and priorities using a client-centered approach. The program provides: • Budget help • Utility bill help • Access to concessions • Identifying potential Centrelink payments • MoneySmart website tools • Affordable SA App and Website • Microfinance information • NILS Loan applications • Grant applications

The role is responsible for: • providing services to clients who require support to manage day to day finances. • updating database to support the provision of service. • promoting continuous improvement to enhance client and organisational outcomes. • Participating in ongoing training a development as required. • ensuring legal and ethical compliance.

Minimum Experience and Knowledge: • Confident with managing money (personal budget). • A good standard of computer literacy. • A good standard of written and verbal communication skills including advocacy, counselling and negotiation with an ability to communicate with people from indigenous, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and/or complex backgrounds. • Demonstrated empathetic and non-judgmental attitude. • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the issues facing people experiencing financial hardship. • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and work autonomously. • Current DHS Working with Children Check

Desirable (non-essential) • Previous experience with a Not for Profit Organisation. • Experience in working with people from diverse cultures. • Understanding of major issues impacting on the financial situation of the community and individuals. • Community education or community development skills. • Knowledge of community services provision in South Australia, especially those related to issues people on low incomes. • A current SA Driver’s Licence.
