About this opportunity: The African Youth Initiative Centres (AYI Centres) is a volunteer run organisation that assists African youths in their educational development through committed face-to-face mentoring, access to educational resources and community-led programs both in Sydney and abroad in Ghana, West Africa. Our aim is to break the cycle of poverty by providing young people with access to education and mentoring that will shape their future. In the pursuit of this objective, AYI Centres is looking for a creative and enthusiastic volunteer with media/communications experience to manage our social media platforms and assist in the building and development of our (current) website. This is an ideal position for someone looking to find their place in the development sector, that believes in the power of storytelling. How we communicate our mission is integral to our success as an organisation. Therefore, as a social media driver/digital content manager, your role which will work in liaison with our ‘project officer’ will be to construct and present the digital story of AYI Centres. Required: An extensive knowledge of Wordpress and website building/design. Back-End and Front-End experience is ideal. Additional requirements: Available to work a half day, ‘once a week’ in the AYI Centres office – located in 107 Projects community office space in Redfern NSW. Hours: 10am-3pm Ability to work remotely; engaging and building AYI’s online platforms – intermittent but in line with your personal schedule. A media/communications degree or relevant work experience is preferred but not essential

Renumeration This is a volunteer role (all of our staff are volunteers). We are looking for someone with the experience, drive and time to assist this grass-roots organisation. This is a suitable position for anyone studying or currently working in the media/communication field.
