The Salvation Army (TSA) Family Store Warehouse l is looking for friendly and capable volunteers to join the team. The donations generously given by the community raise vital funds which go directly back to the community.  The model ensures everyday Australians in distress or in need are assisted, while simultaneously reducing waste.  The Warehouse Assistant is a vital member of the Warehouse team and facilitates those donations flowing to and from the warehouse.

This role is an essential point of contact with the local community and as such the right candidate will possess good people skills and the ability to work within the mission and values of The Salvation Army.

This role provides an opportunity to met a wide range of people in the community and to build a network of contacts invaluable in gaining a foothold into new employment possibilities in the local area.

The Salvation Army Toukley Family Store is an integral part of the community where people access affordable items and seek support. This busy shop has the feel of a community centre where people like to meet and catch up while browsing in the shop. Responding to needs in the community the shop has recently helped begin a soup kitchen, community garden, pallet furniture workshop and community sewing group.

There’s plenty of opportunity to bring your work and life skills and experience, wherever you may have gathered them from!  The  team are particularly looking for people who possess the following attributes:

  • Good people skills
  • Organisational ability
  • Good time management skills
  • Warehousing experience desirable but not essential
  • Good understanding of manual lifting techniques and the importance of PPE equipment desirable but not essential as you will receive training
  • Forklift or MR licence highly regarded but not essential
  • A willingness to work within the mission and values of The Salvation Army

A Typical Day Will Include:

  • Assisting with loading and unloading of goods/stock.
  • Moving goods from the loading bay or vehicle to the storage area in a timely and safe manner.
  • Undertaking general repair and maintenance activities of donated goods.
  • Taking items of furniture in and out of the shop. Ability to lift standard furniture with assistance is a requirement.
  • Organisational and practical sense to make sure donations are up to standard.
  • Customer service skills to assist customers in the selection of furniture items.

Mandatory Requirements Of The Role

  • Fully complete The Salvation Army mission volunteer induction, training and registration process
  • A reasonable level of fitness to meet the inherent requirements of the role
  • Closed steelcap footwear must be worn at all times

Roster & Time Commitment

  • Weekly regular set roster of between 2 to 3 days a week
  • Shift times are flexible and negotiable
  • Please advise your availability in "Interests, skills & qualifications"
