Role Requirement: • 2 year committee term, to a maximum of 3 consecutive two year terms, unless an office bearer which is a maximum of 5 consecutive years in that position.
• Part time (approximately 5-10 hours per month). • Initial term will be subject to a performance review meeting at 6 months, with subsequent 12 monthly performance reviews. • Additional terms are dependent upon results of voting at Annual General Meetings.
• An exit interview will be undertaken upon completion of final term. • Some travel and general expenses will be reimbursed if approved as within the scope of the role.

About Stroke SA Stroke SA is a not-for-profit organisation based in Hilton SA. Our aim is to provide support and information to people who have had a stroke and their carers. We also provide information to individuals and the community to assist in the prevention of stroke and rehabilitation for those with stroke.

The Stroke SA Committee manage and control the affairs of Stroke SA including those activities required to fulfil the objectives of Stroke SA. The role is to be carried out in accordance with the Stroke SA Constitution.

Duties and responsibilities (all members): • Attending and contributing to monthly committee meetings. • Participating in voting at meetings, unless such voting involves a conflict. • Declaring any conflict of interest that become evident at any time during the term.
• Joining sub-committees where time allows and the purpose/s of the sub-committee matches the skills and experiences.
• Actively promoting Stroke SA services to individuals, community groups including Stroke Support Groups, medical professionals and the public. • Review and accept / decline applications from the community to be a Stroke SA paid member. • Actively participating and providing input into planning and training sessions. • Providing input into the review and creation of Stroke SA policies and procedures. • Providing back up assistance for other committee members as required • Drafting information for input into Stroke SA publications.
• Participating in the Annual General Meetings (AGM’s).
• Reviewing and providing feedback on research and development plans for fundraising, sponsorship, grant applications, marketing and other revenue generation including bequests and donations. • Reviewing and providing feedback on requests for stroke research funding. • Adhering to work health and safety policies and procedures. • Adhering to a culturally aware environment and contributing to understanding of cultural diversity.

Experience • Previous experience in marketing, HR, communication and advertisement • Previous experience on a committee / board (highly desirable) • Experience working with volunteers (highly desirable) • Current and valid driver’s licence

Knowledge • Understanding of the not-for-profit sector • Broad knowledge of stroke risks, symptoms, prevention, and recovery

Special conditions • All actions must be in line with the Stroke SA Constitution • A satisfactory national police clearance is required
• Annual performance reviews will be required • WHS training will be required • Must provide a current resume • Must be prepared to participate in training and planning activities • Beneficial if willing to work outside normal business hours • Beneficial if prepared to undertake travel
