This is a great opportunity to add value to a trusted not-for-profit organisation that makes a real difference to the lives of women and children in Afghanistan. The role is responsible for overseeing effective and efficient financial and administrative services. The Finance Manager leads a small finance team and reports to the General Manager.

We are seeking someone who can commit to 2-3 days a week in our Marsfield office. We can offer flexible hours to fit work or other commitments.

Mahboba’s Promise is an Australian non-profit organisation dedicated to providing a sustainable future to vulnerable women and children in Afghanistan. Over the past 22 years, Mahboba’s Promise has adhered to the values of compassion and integrity to empower women and children to make a lasting difference in their own lives. We have established schools, shelters and health clinics across Afghanistan and provide sponsorships for girls’ education, widows, and orphans.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As part of the role you will undertake tasks including:

  • Management and delegation of duties to the Finance Team
  • Overseeing bookkeeping operations
  • Reviewing and overseeing Treasurer’s reconciliation of all accounts
  • Ensuring effective, efficient and accurate financial operations are maintained, and alerting the Board/Committee of any financial information which could impact on budgeted figures
  • Overseeing the preparation and processing of payroll files on a monthly basis
  • Overlooking compliance with local regulations, policies and procedures
  • Reviewing Treasurer’s monthly financial reports for the Board/Committee
  • Identifying, providing advice and recommendations on cost efficiencies and process improvement opportunities

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualifications in business, finance, accounting or a related field
  • Expertise and experience to undertake a range of activities (Accounting qualifications or commensurate work experience)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Attention to detail, good time management and self-organisation skills
  • Administrative and computer skills
  • Proven supervisory skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
  • Highly motivated and able to work under limited supervision
  • CA or CPA preferred
  • Previous experience to financial analysis and budgeting processes in Australia desirable
