Arafmi Ltd is a community organisation providing support to families, carers and people with mental health needs or psychosocial disability for more than 40 years. The Carer Support Team provides a dedicated support service to carers consisting of 24/7 telephone support, one-to-one counselling, face-to-face support groups and a carer education program.

The purpose of the support line is to provide emotional support, information and/or referral - as required by the caller. In this role you will be asking open ended questions to get a good picture of the situation and then clarify with the caller the main areas of concern and provide options for referral if appropriate or information as needed, the caller might not be able to determine what they are looking for at the beginning of the call.

You will need to maintain an accurate record of calls and submit required information to the Arafmi office every month.

Good communication and active listening skills are essential for the role.

Arafmi will provide an induction and ongoing training to all our volunteers.
