During these challenging times we need volunteers more than ever, to support isolated people in our community to feel socially connected again. If you’re a ‘people person’ and would like to make a difference to the life of someone who is socially isolated we would love to hear from you!

Uniting’s social support program operates across metropolitan Melbourne, enabling and supporting isolated individuals to remain socially active and engaged in their community. These programs offer both individual companionship and group activities as a way to support people to 'get back to things they love’. Programs include group activities, phone-based social support, centre-based activities and one-on-one visits/outings.

Volunteers play an active role in assisting individuals within these programs to achieve their social support goals and reconnect with their interests and hobbies. This rewarding role will enable you to make a valuable contribution to your community and the social wellbeing of another person. Induction, ongoing supervision and opportunities for professional development provided.

*Please note that during COVID-19 this role will commence over the phone. This will provide with an opportunity to establish rapport and connection, and support our clients to remain connected to their community during the current circumstances. Interested? For further information, please contact and quote CA-JUL-63.

Uniting is committed to equal opportunity and ensuring the workplace is reflective ofthe community. We encourage people from different backgrounds to apply, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people with a disability Uniting is a child safe organisation and is committed in everyday practice to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children, at all times. As a ‘child safe’ organisation, volunteering with Uniting is subject to a satisfactory national (and international where relevant) police check and Working With Children Check (in Victoria) and/or Working With Vulnerable People Check (in Tasmania) prior to commencement in any service or undertaking.
