Mentoring Program Volunteers

About Puddle Jumpers: We are a non-profit, non-government organisation that is committed to responding to the social development needs of society’s most vulnerable children and young people. Our main priority is working with children who do not live with their birth parents. We have a strong belief that all kids matter and deserve the right to have fun and joyous experiences. We are well-known for running several camps a year for these vulnerable children. At these camps, dozens of volunteers, mentors, and children come together to have a fun weekend away. Unfortunately, we are unable to run the camps due to COVID-19 restrictions. Instead, we have instated the mentoring program. The mentoring program is an opportunity for volunteers/mentors to work with children one-on-one and complete fun activities. Activities can include things such as going to the zoo, bowling, watching a movie, or just simply hanging out.

What we are looking for: We are looking for volunteers/mentors who have a bubbly, positive personality and want to make a difference in these kids’ lives! We are looking for people who can act like role models for these kids and teaching them life skills that they are possibly missing out on. If you not have any experience working with children before, don’t be afraid to apply, we are happy to help train you to become a mentor and gain confidence. Volunteering is completely free and is an amazing opportunity to work with some wonderful kids!

Skills and Requirements: • Effective communication skills • Ability to work with other people • Ability to follow direction • Able to learn and understand our policies and procedures • A Working with Children Check (we can help you obtain) • Able to step out of your comfort zone Training Required (or willing to undergo) • Basic Food Hygiene/Handling • Child Safe Environments Certificate

Please Note: During the COVID-19 pandemics, organisations should be providing all necessary COVID-19 safety protection measures for volunteers following the advice of both the Sate or Territory Governments and the Federal Government. Your safety and well-being is your priority. Familiarise yourself with the most up-to-date requirements and advice from the Australian and NT and SA State Governments. As each organisation provides different levels/types of insurance, volunteers are reminded to check with the organisation as to the type of insurance provided for volunteers (e.g. Volunteer Personal Accident Insurance).

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
