Director, Ballarat Health Connect Ballarat Health Connect Ltd (trading as Ballarat Men’s Mental Health) is seeking committed, passionate Directors for a recently established NFP whose primary objective is to improve mental health outcomes and reduce suicide rates for men in the Ballarat region.

Ballarat Men’s Mental Health has secured seed funding and is currently progressing operational funding sufficient to establish a physical service which offers early stage treatment and support for men dealing with mental health problems.

We wish to increase the number of directors from 6 to 8, broaden the diversity on the Board and strengthen professional skill sets.

Directorships are voluntary and unpaid.

Key Selection Criteria All directors are expected to bring a range of skills to the position.  It is expected that applicants will demonstrate their experience in at least two of the following skills criteria.

  • Experience and knowledge of the primary mental health care sector including clinical service provision and / or community health service provision.
  • Strong reputation and local connections/networks including consumers, business, media and communications, health organisations, mental health service providers and the ability to effectively engage and communicate with these and other stakeholders.
  • Experience and knowledge of fund raising and grant application from philanthropic organisations and/or Government.
  • Knowledge and experience in best practice corporate governance structures, policies and processes.
  • Lived experience in mental health from either a client, family or carer perspective.
  • Qualifications and/or experience in accounting or finance and the ability to contribute to the interrogation of financial reports, strategic financial planning and budget setting.
  • Risk management experience including legal and regulatory compliance and ability to identify risks and monitor risk management strategies and frameworks. Experience of clinical governance within these contexts is an advantage
