The Salvation Army Worship and Community Centre, Unley, SA is looking for volunteers.  Dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming space for all, the volunteer Gardening Assistant/Groundsperson plays an important role in developing and maintaining the beautiful Community Gardens. Dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming space for all, the Community Gardening Assistant develops and maintain the community garden with the purpose of planting and harvesting in a way that ensures that the garden is kept productive, safe and tidy.

A typical day will see you - weeding, mowing grass, pruning, harvesting fruit, building garden beds and general tidying, keeping the garden and other outdoor areas free of weeds, and sweeping concreted areas. Suggesting and implementing garden improvements to enhance the overall ambiance of the garden and surrounds is another important part of this role.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements For The Role

  • Experience in gardening is preferred but not essential
  • A reasonable level of fitness is an inherent requirement of this role. Some heavy lifting may be required.

Mandatory Requirements Of The Role

  • Complete The Salvation Army's volunteer registration, induction and training as required process
  • Integrity Checks (Police Check, WWVP) will be required for the role

Roster & Time Commitment

  • One or two days per week as required and agreed with the Manager. 
  • Please indicate your availability with your expression of interest
