Volunteer Court Support Worker - Redcliffe (Moreton Bay)

This volunteer opportunity will help to provide information, support and assistance to male respondents of Domestic Violence Orders in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court This includes supporting the respondent during the court process and providing information and referrals to support services.

The court support worker will provide information and support around the court process and domestic violence orders. They will liaise with other court stakeholders including the court staff, security staff, legal representatives, police prosecutors and the women's court support workers. The court support worker will have a non-judgemental attitude and will be able to establish rapport with men attending court.

The court support worker will be working in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on Tuesday mornings from 8.30am until 11.30am. they will be mostly working in the waiting room outside the courtroom. Call over numbers can vary from 20 - 40 matters in the morning and they would typically speak with around 20 men.

Tasks involved include: Provide male respondents with general information in relation to Domestic Violence Protection Orders, court layout and court processes.

Provide men affected by domestic and family violence with information about available services and assistance with referrals. Develop and maintain community networks and referral protocols, through liaison and service promotion with court officials, Queensland Police, solicitors and other community service providers. Maintain confidentiality and duty of care. Maintenance of appropriate files and case notes as per organisational policies and procedures. Undertake other duties as and when directed within the scope of the role and the capabilities of the incumbent.
