VOLUNTEERING - VINNIES MARYBOROUGH

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the St Vincent de Paul Society, especially at this challenging time.

The St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria is continuing to respond to the growing challenges of the COVID-19 outbreak and while some of our services may look a little different temporarily, we emphasise that – we are still here.

Vinnies Maryborough is still in operation, with a reduced number of people on the shop floor for safety reasons along with shorter opening times. Things are changing daily and we are working hard to provide the most accurate and up to date information as we hear it.

Its important to know we are actively recruiting for retail volunteers at this time, as we need you to support the future rebuild in our communities. If Retail is specifically where you wish to support, we can place you on our wait-list and when things are looking brighter (which they will) we will get in touch to discuss the options with you. We will also provide you with updates along the way to keep you informed of the things the Society are doing to help during this time.

Please read below to learn more about the volunteering process.

These are only a few examples of what we can offer and we are happy to chat about these further!

Learn more about Vinnies! St Vincent de Paul Society has over 110 retail shops across Victoria known as “Vinnies”, selling new and pre-loved fashion and homewares. The beauty of our Vinnies Shops is that you never know what unique and special treasures you might find! Over 12 million items were sold within our retail shops last year, which saved 12 million items from going to landfill!

The proceeds from items sold in our Shops go directly into our communities to help support some of the most vulnerable people that may be experiencing hardship and loneliness.

Across 9 Soup Vans we were able to provide over 88 thousand meals to people that would have potentially gone hungry.

40,000 calls for welfare assistance were answered last year in our Call Centre and assistance was given in the form of material goods, food vouchers and of course a compassionate ear.

Our 5 Education Programs offered reading, companionship, and homework help to 977 students who attended the programs in 2019.

None of this would be possible without our Vinnies Shops.

St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria is proactive in supporting child safety We value diversity and aim to build an inclusive environment that champions, embraces and respects differences.

We support and encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and people of all abilities, cultures, sexual orientations, and gender identities and expressions.
