During these challenging times we need volunteers more than ever, to support isolated people in our community to feel socially connected again. If you’re a ‘people person’ and would like to make a difference to the life of someone who is socially isolated we would love to hear from you!

Do you have a shared interest in reading, listening to the radio, electronics and socialising? Jake lives in Blackburn and is seeking a social, personable volunteer to support him to achieve his social goals. Jake would like to be accompanied to go out for lunch or a coffee in his local area.

The volunteer will provide Jake with conversation, companionship and an opportunity to reconnect with his interests. Well-developed communication skills and a willingness to participate in both in-home and community-based visits are essential. Your own vehicle will be required to transport Jake on outings. Valid Victoria drivers license necessary. The skills and confidence to work independently are a must. Induction, ongoing supervision and opportunities for professional development provided.

*Participant's name has been altered to maintain his privacy.

*Please note that during COVID-19 this role will commence over the phone, which will enable you to establish rapport and connection with Jake and enable him to stay connected to the community. Interested? For further information, please call 13 93 75 and quote WR-E-08.
