Handyman for Community Centre

South Coast Writers Centre

Coledale Community Centre is looking for a volunteer to offer assistance with maintenance of our community hall.

We are looking for a local dedicated volunteer who would like to work with us in an ongoing capacity each week to look after the community hall:

  • Manage and monitor the onsite hall storage areas for chairs and tables (weekly),
  • Monitor and complete regular maintenance on hall and equipment,
  • Manage bins and maintain tidy exterior hall appearance (weekly),
  • Do minor repairs as required (handyman jobs),
  • Assist hall manager to get quotes for other repairs and make appointments for tradespeople,
  • Maintain the hall’s equipment and maintenance register.

We are registered with Centrelink as a not-for-profit organisation and we would particularly welcome volunteers over 55 wishing to establish an ongoing relationship with us to meet their mutual obligation requirements.

ABOUT US: The Coledale Community Centre is managed by the South Coast Writers Centre. SCWC manages the hire and maintenance of Coledale Community Hall for the local community.

The South Coast Writers Centre provides professional development, information and networks for writers and readers on the South Coast and Southern Highlands of NSW. The Centre aims to support and promote regional writers and writing on the South Coast of NSW. The Centre works towards fostering creative and professional development for writers of all stages, developing existing and new audiences for writers, and supporting the distinct literary cultures of the South Coast through the provision of literary events across the New South Wales South Coast and Southern Highlands. The Centre strives for the inclusion of South Coast writers in Australian literary culture, and ultimately endeavours to maintain social inclusion, access, equity and the participation of members in all aspects of the Centre. The South Coast Writers Centre is a membership-based, incorporated not-for-profit organisation supported by Arts NSW, Wollongong City Council and Wollongong Art Gallery.
