Volunteer Mentor - 'Braking the Cycle' (PCYC Emerald)

PCYC Qld (Qpcywa-Police Citizens Youth Club)

Do you have 1 - 4 hours per week to mentor a disadvantaged young person aged 17 - 25?

The Queensland Police-Citizens Youth Welfare Association (QPCYWA) is a community-based organisation concerned with the development of youth through the provision of sporting and recreational activities. The QPCYWA has established 54 Police-Citizens Youth Clubs (PCYCs) throughout the State and now has an active membership in excess of 73,000 members state-wide.

One of the many programs PCYC Queensland delivers is the Braking the Cycle program. Braking the Cycle aims to provide young people with increased employment opportunities, community connection and driver education. This is achieved via a volunteer driver mentor program designed to support learner drivers without access to a supervisor or registered vehicle to complete their logbook hours.

PCYC Queensland is calling for a motivated and reliable Volunteer Mentor to be involved in the Braking the Cycle program across PCYC Crestmead. As a volunteer you would only be matched with a suitable participant with whom you feel comfortable mentoring.

To volunteer with PCYC you are required to hold a Department of Justice and Attorney General Volunteer Working with Children Check (Blue Card) prior to commencement. However, PCYC can assist with the application.

The successful applicant would be required to hold an Open Driver's Licence for 12 months.
