Meals on Wheels Volunteers

Heathcote Health is always looking for Volunteers as we believe they enhance the health service by providing value added services to our patients, residents, families and visitors. We consider our volunteers a valuable and complementary part of the health care team and the presence of volunteers in various areas throughout the organisation make a difference by enhancing the patient and visitor experience.

We aim to provide volunteers with work that is meaningful, challenging and rewarding so they know they are making a difference. Our volunteer program aims at matching the right person to the right role.

The Meals on Wheels service provides low-cost, freshly-cooked, two-course meals to Home and Community Care Clients (HACC) who live at home and whose capacity for independent living is at risk of premature or inappropriate admission to long-term residential care. Our objective is to deliver meals to the Home and Community Care Client’s in a timely and responsible manner.

Duties include: • Load packed meals into the delivery vehicle • Check customer delivery lists against the number of meals in the esky and cool bags • Deliver meals to customers on a set route • After the meal delivery round, return equipment back to the drop point • Participate in program development and training

Skills and Experience: • A Meals on Wheels driver requires a current driving license • A current national police clearance certificate • Good communication skills • The ability to work with direction and as part of a team • Interest in working with aged and disadvantaged persons (desirable)

Support and training will be provided.

Volunteers are required to complete an application form and undergo a police check and working with children check.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All volunteers will need to undertake COVID19 screening prior to commencement. Ensuring that all appropriate measures are taken to keep volunteers, staff and clients are safe. All Staff and volunteers that present with COVID19 symptoms are required to be tested requiring Self-Isolation until results are received.
