Board Director

    Prepare for and attend virtual Board meetings every two months (or as required). Attend sub-committee meetings, competition events, award presentation and social functions as required.

To be successful as a Board Member you should have significant professional leadership experience, understanding of good governance in the context of non-for profit enterprise, strong communication skills and be passionately committed to the AFFF’s mission.

We are seeking applicants with skills and experience in one or more of the following disciplines:

- Financial management

- Sports management and/or administration

- Marketing, sponsorship and promotion

- Technical official and/or sporting accreditation

- Membership management and growth

- Media management

- Sporting competition and event management

- Corporate governance and reporting

- Corporate risk management

- Sports anti-doping

Board Member Responsibilities

- Determine the organisation's strategic direction, mission, programs, policies, and needs

- Approve, monitor and review the financial and non-financial performance of the organisation, and ensure fiduciary responsibilities are met

- Ensure financial and non-financial risks are appropriately identified and managed

- Ensure the AFFF complies with all relevant laws, codes of conduct and appropriate standards of behaviour

- Provide an avenue for key stakeholder input into the strategic direction of the organisation

- Ensure director, board and chairman performance evaluation occurs regularly

- Be appropriately prepared for, and commit to attending, the Annual General Meeting and board meetings that are held every two months, or as required, and

- Attend sub-committee meetings, competition events, award presentation and social functions as required

Minimum requirements

- Proven track record in a professional leadership role

- Knowledge of the organisation and the relevant industry

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred experience

- Previous board experience

- Experience in developing a national-level sporting organisation
