Assistant Producers needed for award-winning current affairs show

The Informer, is a weekly current affairs show. It is Australia’s only national LGBTIQA+ current affairs program and a JOY 94.9 flagship program. The show airs in two formats – a one-hour program on Thursday evenings and a shorter nationally-focused program airing the following Wednesday.

The Informer Assistant Producers are responsible for working with the Executive Producer of The Informer to organise and conduct interviews, assist contributors in getting their stories to air and promoting the show through social media channels.

All position holders at JOY are required to perform their duties in accordance with current organisational policy and procedures and relevant ACMA and CBAA requirements; to minimum performance standards, and ensure adherence to the JOY Melbourne Inc. rules of association; comply with health and safety guidelines and instructions to ensure a healthy, safe and environmentally responsible workplace; and cooperate and comply with equal opportunity legislation.

Key Responsibilities

· Support the Informer EP to produce the weekly show

· Podcast and social media distribution of the show

· Packaging the Thursday 55-minute version of the show for a national audience in an approximately 24-minute version the following Tuesday, on a strict deadline

· Work collaboratively with other JOY 94.9 news and current affairs programs to broadcast a seamless experience, leveraging the strengths of each show

· Develop and maintain relationships with other volunteers, share information across the organisation

· Document and share your process to help build the organisational foundation of JOY knowledge

Key Selection Criteria

· Demonstrated community media experience and/or study, with particular knowledge of social media, current affairs and broadcast knowledge

· Empathy, sensitivity and understanding of LGBTIQA+ communities

· Passionate about building a more inclusive Australia

· Good planning and time management skills

· Intermediate skills and experience using Adobe Audition, Hindenburg Journalist or other DAW (Digital Audio workstations) are highly regarded.
