This role is best suited to a mature female who can visit an older lady who lives independently in her home in the western metropolitan area. The lady is socially isolated and lives alone with her small dog. She would love a visit from someone who is kind, enjoys a good chat and who could take her out for a coffee, help her walk her dog or even explore social opportunities in her area together such as going to the library. She loves reading, playing computer games, gardening, TV and travel, and would love to connect with someone with a similar interest. Being in her 90's, she is not a morning person so would relish the opportunity to have a visit on a Monday or Wednesday in the early afternoon. Ideally the volunteer will have a car to help accompany her to places of interest with all expenses reimbursed by St John Ambulance Community Care.

St John Ambulance's Community Care Program is a well-respected and trusted volunteer service that has supported older people throughout the Adelaide metropolitan area for 30 years.

Volunteers make a real and heartfelt difference in the lives of older people who have identified that they would benefit from greater social interaction in their life while remaining a valued participant in community and society. Volunteers are carefully matched with the older person they visit to ensure the visit is mutually enjoyable, meaningful and rewarding.

St John provides all necessary Covid-19 protection measures for volunteers to practice as an added safeguard and upholds all of its required health and funding obligations.
