The YMCA operates a number of services including Child Care, health and fitness, education and training, outdoor education and camping, accommodation and hospitality along with benevolent activities including the YMCA Vocational School and the Schools' Breakfast program.

The YMCA of Brisbane is directed by a volunteer Board and supported by an Executive management team.  We are seeking applications from highly capable, motivated and values–driven individuals to join our Board of Directors on a voluntary basis.

It’s an exciting opportunity to contribute the YMCA’s governance and assist with our future strategic direction.

We are specifically seeking to recruit new Directors who are well connected with strong professional networks and who bring specialist expertise and experience in the areas of Law, HR, IT, Risk Management or Early Childhood.

The YMCA, including its Board of Directors, is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding Children and Young People Framework.  YMCA requires that all applicants undergo satisfactory screening prior to commencement including, but not limited to:

  • A national criminal history check
  • An international criminal history check (where applicants have worked overseas)
  • Holding or obtaining a Working with Children Clearance (Blue Card) in accordance with state laws
  • Three reference checks

Any successfully appointed applicant will be required to adhere to the Safeguarding Children and Young People Framework, which includes a thorough safeguarding children and young people induction and committing to upholding the safety and wellbeing of children and young people through their engagement with YMCA.
