A core value of The Salvation Army (TSA) is to support the basic needs of individuals and communities. The Salvation Army's Golden Grove Corps Thrift Shop and Cafe, SA is in need of several friendly and capable Retail Assistant Members to assist in the Thrift Shop and also with food preparation and service in the Cafe. This volunteer role would be perfect for someone wanting to support others and make a difference in their community.

A Typical Day Will See You: Moving light tables and chairs

Setting up Op Shop and displaying stock in various groups neatly.

Moving rolling cabinets, signs, boxes of shop donations and clothes racks.

Sorting and pricing of donations

Vacuuming

Providing customer service with a focus on kindness.

Cleaning cafe including coffee machine, cafe chairs and tables, kitchen etc

This volunteer role requires someone who has flexibility and capability to also assist in our Cafe. The ideal candidate will have a friendly personality and be welcoming and accepting of all guests to the shop and cafe.

Additionally, the Retail Assistant will provide support in the preparation of the meals, beverages and snacks and all associated serving and cleaning responsibilities. Attention to maintaining a clean, safe, hygienic and healthy work environment is critical.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements for the Role:

Experience in a retail environment and/or customer service desirable

Barista/cafe skills not a must but a plus. We're happy to train people in this area

The applicant will be involved in both the Op Shop and Cafe areas.

Good understanding of hygiene is essential

Experience in preparing food and condiments desirable

Mandatory Requirements of the Role:

Complete TSA volunteer registration, induction modules and any other training as required

Integrity checks (Police and WWCC) will be a requirement of the role

Knowledge of work health and safety particularly in a commercial kitchen environment

Time Requirement:

Tuesday 8.30 - 4pm, Wednesday 8.30 - 4pm and Thursday 8.30 - 2pm

Start and finish times can be a negotiated depending on the hours that each applicant is wanting to volunteer
