Are you looking to transition into a new career or have a backup plan? Are you worried about your job security? Are you a smart, engaged active citizen aged between 18-40?

The global pandemic has highlighted the importance of being adaptable to uncertain circumstances. In light of this, JCI Sydney is launching an exciting new mentoring program designed to improve your skills and knowledge, grow your network and connect you with mentors to help you in the next step of your career. Being part of the program will allow you to learn from the experience of industry experts and leaders who have transitioned careers.  Mentees are expected to gain essential skills and knowledge in their desired fields, develop understanding of key core values in their industry that they want to transition into and form long term connections with mentors who have done it all before and other young leaders looking to drive positive change.

Key Details:

  • The program will run for 2 months, and include mentor facilitated workshops as well as individual one on one sessions
  • The program will be run online - so anyone across NSW can join!
  • We will provide a loose structure and training to guide you in your conversations with your mentor, and ensure that you get the most out of your experience. The program is designed to be flexible so you can develop your own relationships.
  • There will be a cost of $85 to cover costs of the program, and give you a 6 month membership to JCI Sydney

Junior Chamber International (JCI) is a global, non-profit organisation for young people to develop leadership skills, meet inspiring people and make a real impact in local communities.   1. Is this program a job placement/internship? The program is not designed to be a job placement/people recruitment program. The program is designed with the main aim of assisting people to gain skills and knowledge about their desired industry and the transition process. This program is for people who are thinking about a career change, or learning new skills to ensure they are career ready.

2. What happens after I apply? Applications will be open until late July. All applications will be reviewed by our team and we will then contact you in the fortnight after regarding your application. An online training session will be provided for mentees prior to the program commencing in August.

3. What will be the total costs associated with the program? The cost will be $85 AUD. This will cover costs of the program and a 6 month membership of JCI Sydney. With the membership, the members will have access to JCI’s other events, programs, and more member-exclusive benefits.

4. What will I get from the program? Program participants will be expected to gain the essential skills and core values that their respective industry requires and form long term meaningful connections with mentors in that industry, who may give guidance into the transition and job application.

5. If I apply is it guaranteed that I will be part of the program? Despite our team’s best efforts, there is no guarantee that you will be matched to a mentor, because in general there are more mentees than mentors willing to take part in the program.

6. What other benefits does JCI Sydney Offer? JCI Sydney offers its members a vast program of activities such as professional development workshops, webinars, fundraising initiatives, social meetings, community projects and much more.

7. Will there be official recognition for the completion of the program? You will receive a certificate at the end of the program, and we will have an end of program celebration with all participants!
