Social Media Assistant (Volunteer/Virtual/Home Based Role)

Vision Australia is a leading national provider of blindness and low vision services in Australia. We work in partnership with Australians who are blind or have low vision to help them achieve the possibilities they choose in life.

We support more than 25,500 people of all ages and life stages, and circumstances. We do this through 35 Vision Australia centres in Victoria, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia; and through outreach programs in the Northern Territory and Tasmania. We are a not-for-profit organisation and a major participant and partner in the international blindness community.

Our volunteers are a vital part of our workforce and this role is crucial in providing information and inclusion.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop a three month communications plan
  • Regular posts to engage volunteers
  • Developing promotional posts including short stories and images
  • Maintaining a seven day schedule on Facebook and possibly other channels
  • Sharing of relevant content as and when required by the social schedule calendar
  • Attending regular Zoom meetings to liaise with the team
  • Receiving instructions and communicating with team via Facebook Workplace

Additional requirements:

To be considered, you will have:

  • Passion for writing engaging social posts with flare and personality
  • Experience scheduling posts in advance
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Understanding of voice, tone and following branding requirements
  • Initiative to learn and use tools which help with content creation, scheduling and optimisation
  • Ability to create and edit graphics,
  • Excellent written skills
  • A "can do" attitude
  • Ability to commit to this task

You will also have regular access to a computer with internet connection (at your own expense); initiative to work autonomously and remotely; and genuine desire and commitment.
