Volunteer Coordinator (remote)

In this role, you’ll be responsible for keeping our volunteer program running smoothly and effectively. You will be a highly organised and self-motivated individual ideally with previous experience in volunteer management. You will have a good understanding of how to build a positive volunteer experience and will work closely with our program coordinator.

This role provides an amazing opportunity to build on and further develop your existing administration and volunteer management experience. We’re a small team and so you’ll be able to work independently and bring your own creative ideas to the volunteer program at the ASC!

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with the Program Coordinator to identify volunteer recruitment needs, creating and updating Position Descriptions and planning and rolling out recruitment drives to attract new volunteers to the organisation
  • Working with the Program Coordinator to plan and conduct interviews with all new volunteers
  • Administrative work related to the volunteer program in a professional and confidential manner (Google Drive spreadsheets)
  • Working collaboratively with the Program Coordinator to identify volunteer training needs and planning and delivering these training's to volunteers

  • Planning social events and volunteer recognition opportunities to build a fun, positive and supportive culture

  • Comply with ASC policies & procedures, identify OHS concerns and communicate these to ASC designated Board members

  • Maintain a culturally sensitive attitude and avoid discussing topics related to politics or religion, respecting the conservative Christian background of most of the community members

Selection Criteria

  • Experience managing volunteers or staff, preferably in the community development sector (desirable)
  • Passionate about delivering a great volunteer experience and building a positive and supportive culture for volunteers
  • A strong interest in working with refugees, and a great degree of cultural sensitivity in working with people from CALD and /or complex or vulnerable backgrounds

  • Great interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively to engage multiple stakeholders

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
