CASUAL COMMITTEE OF MANAGEMENT VACANCY PRIDE WESTERN AUSTRALIA INC.

Pride Western Australia Inc. (Pride WA) seeks expressions of interest from qualified applicants for the appointment to casual vacancy that has arisen on its management committee. With a forward focus and an eye on growth, Pride WA looks to strengthen the skills of its current Management Committee by appointing additional experts in the following fields:

   - Arts & culture;

   - Business development; or

   - Philanthropy and sponsorship management.

The Pride WA Management Committee meets monthly at offices in North Perth. The Committee members are also required to attend functions and events through out the year.

The appointment will be until the association’s Annual General Meeting in 2021, usually held in March, with an ongoing option to re-nominate for further 2-year terms.

About the Organisation

Pride WA has been an integral part of the Western Australian community since 1989. The association grew out of a community movement protesting laws that actively discriminated against members of the pride community and evolved to incorporate a festival and events calendar. The Pride Community includes lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer (LGBTIQ), other people of diverse sexuality and gender, and their supporters.

The mission and principal purpose of Pride Western Australia Incorporated is to encourage and promote community, culture and the arts by celebrating the community, cultural expression and performing talent of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and all people of diverse sexuality and gender living in Western Australia.

Pride WA is best known for its annual PrideFEST event, which includes the Perth Pride Parade and Fairday celebrations. Pride WA also runs regularly community social activities and other events throughout the year.

Desired/Required Attributes

Pursuant to the rules of the association, all committee members must be members of Pride WA. Membership is between $25 and $40 annually; new members can sign up to the association at any time. Previous experience on a management committee or board is desirable but not required.

Pursuant to the rules of the association, Accordingly, Pride WA strongly encourages any individual who does not see their gender, sexual orientation, age group or another attribute represented by the currently sitting management committee.

Opportunities are also available for volunteers to work with the Pride WA in other capacities. Any individual interested in working with Pride WA but not in a management role, is encouraged to contact the association to find out more information.

Anyone who is genuinely passionate about supporting the LGBTQI+ community, and both promoting and providing a stage for that community to demonstrate and preserve its artistic and cultural expressions, should apply.
