  • The Treasurer's key duties are:-
  • ensuring that any amounts payable or paid to the Organisation are collected and issuing receipts for those amounts,
  • ensuring that any amounts paid to the Organisation are credited to the appropriate account of the Association,
  • ensuring that any payments to be made by the Organisation that have been authorised by the Centre Manager or Board are made on time,
  • attend a minimum of 3 x Board meetings per year (remotely if applicable),
  • ensuring the safe custody of the Organisation’s financial records, financial statements and financial reports,
  • prepare a financial report within six months after the end of each financial year,
  • in respect of a financial year, must ensure that its financial report for the year is reviewed and audited appropriately, and to be presented at the Annual General Meeting,
  • providing any assistance required by an auditor or reviewer conducting an audit or review of the Organisation’s financial statements or financial report (where applicable),
  • carrying out any other duty if required and where applicable.
  • Qualifications required - The Treasurer must have a financial qualification\, ie\, bookkeeping or accounting. Past Board member experience is not essential\, but would be of benefit. Please note that a person may not be a member of the board if they are bankrupt or whose affairs are under insolvency laws, or they are a person who has been convicted of fraud, dishonesty, been imprisoned for a period of more than 3 months.
  • Organisational background - Safe Woman Safe Family WA was founded as a not-for-profit organisation in January 2018. The Founders\, Irene Lydon and Tanya Langford\, held the launch event in Mandurah on 8th June 2018. They then commenced gathering and training a team of women dedicated to becoming support staff and peer mentors for women and children traumatized by domestic and family violence and abuse.
  • The benefits and impact of volunteering  - You will know that all the work you are providing is helping victims and survivors of domestic violence and abuse. You will not be on the Women Centre's front line, but you will know that you are using your accounting skills to make sure Safe Woman Safe Family WA can continue to provide a Women's Centre where women and children can access a combination of support, services, therapies and programs in a safe and nurturing environment.
