Retina Australia is a national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to fighting blindness and finding cures for inherited retinal diseases (IRDs). IRDs affect over 15,000 people in Australia and is the primary cause of youth blindness. Common IRDs include Retinitis Pigmentosa, Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Stargardt Disease and Lebers Congenital Amaurosis.

We are a member-based organisation that assists the community by providing support, information, and funding for life-changing medical research programs to treat and ultimately help find cures for IRDs. Since 1983, we have contributed over $5.5 million towards research programs in the fields of gene therapy, stem cell therapy, artificial prostheses, and the psychological or sociological aspects of living with an inherited retinal disease.

We are looking for a group of all-rounder volunteers to help in the administration, events, marketing, and fundraising side of the business. You can choose which area you want to volunteer in, we are flexible. Some specific tasks may include:

• Tin shaking at shopping malls & handing out brochures and fact sheets

• Assisting staff to help run trivia & gala night fundraising events

• Calling community radio stations to share media releases

• Analyse marketing & digital data to help create targeted campaigns via Google Ad Words & Facebook

• Organising interviews with clients who have an IRD

Our head office is in Melbourne, however, we run events & information stalls across the country, with the added benefit of many tasks being able to be completed online.
